Life’s 5 Most Important (And Most Difficult) Lessons

When it comes to life, there are always more lessons to be learned. These lessons are often hard to swallow at first, but the more we experience, the easier it is to understand. The thing about life lessons is that everyone wants to be told what they are, but you can’t really learn them until you have the experience yourself. Once you’ve experienced a harsh truth, you can grow as an individual and learn. These lessons, although difficult at first, make life easier.

In order to help remind you of the most important lessons life has to teach, here are a few that have helped me. Although you may have to have your own experiences to truly understand their meanings, it can be useful to keep them in mind as you move forward.

1. Your Personality is Not Set in Stone

Remember that you’re in control of your own life, and you have the power to change it if you want. If you don’t like something about your personality, the way you’ve been acting, or how you’ve been treating others, change. It really is that simple.
You don’t have to do or be the same thing each day, you can change if you want. Just remember that this only applies to you, not to anyone else in your life.

2. Don’t Forsake Your Parents

No matter how unsatisfied you are with your childhood, your parents are the only reasons why you’re here at all. Forgiveness can be a life lesson all its own, but it’s especially important when it comes to your parents. Letting go of the things you dealt with in the past doesn’t mean forgetting all about them, it means forgiving the people that had a negative impact.
Children can go through some pretty terrible experiences that last a lifetime, but the more you can forgive, the better off you’ll be. Don’t leave your parents behind you.

3. A Positive Mind Produces Positive Results

Try to stay as positive as you can throughout your day. It may sound farfetched, but a positive outlook on a situation can produce positive results. It all has to do with expectations; if you expect something to go wrong, chances are that it will.
Conversely, if you expect something to go positively, you’ll probably get the result you’re hoping for. Never underestimate the power of your mind and the impact it can have on your life in general.

4. Love and Friendship Are Equally Important

When it comes to our relationships, we often get confused between love and friendship.
Don’t worry so much about the distinction, they are both equally important in your life. Not only that, but they aren’t mutually exclusive either. You can love your best friend, and your best friend can turn into a romantic interest. If you find yourself in a position where you have to choose between loving someone and just being friends, enjoy it, you won’t get many tough decisions that result in two amazing outcomes.

5. Enjoy the Time You Have

Everyone knows the phrase time heals all wounds, but it also does a whole lot more. Enjoy the time you have in this life because no one knows what comes after. If you’re hurt, take some time and watch the change that occurs in your life. Time really does heal almost every wound, but that doesn’t mean you should ignore the process.
Take the pain, take the pleasure, and everything in between.
